Walk in her Shoes
Walk in Her Shoes is a 30 minute activity that puts participants in various scenarios that a victim of trafficking could experience. Participants will read a scenario and learn how to make tough choices as they navigate through the shoes of a trafficked victim. Following the activity, participants will engage in a discussion based question and answer session provided by the facilitator. Participants will learn an overview of human trafficking, with a focus on demand.

VAST Lecture Series
March 29th 2018,
5:00 PM – Exploitation/Child Safety
This is an hour long presentation at the VAST office. Facilitator will utilize resources and video materials to educate the audience on exploitation, dating red flags, and online child safety. The audience will be provided with resources on how to educate children on this topic and tips to improve child online safety.

April 26th, 2018
5:00 PM – Sex Buyers versus Non-Sex Buyers
This is a 30 minute presentation based on a report about statistics related to buyers of sex versus those that do not purchase sex. This presentation aims to educate the community on the role that sex buyers play in the continued existence of prostitution/trafficking. Sex Buyers are an important part of the “demand” of trafficking that is often over-looked but should be discussed.

May 31st, 2018
5:00 PM – Human Trafficking & the Law
This is an hour long presentation at the VAST office. A member of law enforcement as well as a lawyer will come in as guest speakers to discuss the legal side of trafficking and what occurs after a victim is brought into custody, trial stories, etc. Utilize resources from Shae Rhodes.

September 27th, 2018
5:00 PM – Survivor Story
This is an hour long presentation which will begin with a facilitator sharing myths and assumptions related to trafficking. Following this, a survivor leader will share her story with an audience. An interactive discussion to follow debunking those myths and what the audience learned from the story.

October 25th, 2018
5:00 PM – Community Call to Action
This is a 30 minute presentation reviewing a community member’s response. Presentation will review trafficking indicators, what to do if you come across a suspected victim or trafficker, how to report a tip, who to contact, and what happens when you do report a tip. Resources will be shared with the audience by providing them with documentation/contact information such as hotline number, Blue campaign, HEAL, VAST, Truth Home etc. Participants will better understand what VAST does and how to go from Awareness to Action- by addressing demand, creating awareness, fundraising, and hosting awareness gatherings.
